Topic: Thank You for Your Service
I want to thank you for supporting legislation, budget line items, and budget amendments that supported the Six Primary Legislative Objectives (PLOs) of the Joint Leadership Council of Military Service Organizations during the just completed session. I appreciate how complex and difficult this past session was and sincerely appreciate your support.
I am one of your constituents and a member of the Military Officers’ Association of America (MOAA) which is a member of Virginia’s Joint Leadership Council of Veterans Service Organizations (JLC). We began the past session with six PLOs and several budget amendments. All but one of our bills passed in both the House and the Senate and that one will probably be reintroduced in the next session. Our critical budget needs were accommodated. No, we didn’t get full funding, but you found a way, during the current financial crisis, to provide sufficient funds to keep each program moving forward.
Your service during the past session will benefit Virginia’s 850,000 Veterans and their families, the Virginia National Guard, the members of the Reserve Components of the Active Duty Services and their families, and the Active Duty Service Members and their families who are serving, homeported, or homebased in Virginia. You and the other legislators made decisions that will directly improve the quality of their lives and, educate Virginia’s citizens about the sacrifices of our veterans and serving members. By doing so you have clearly demonstrated your respect and support for their service to Virginia and the United States of America.
